<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The family of Malcolm X, the civil rights leader and human rights activist, has announced that they will file a <a href="https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/w/family-malcolm-x-sue-us-authorities-over-his-killing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">lawsuit against the US government</a> and law enforcement agencies for their alleged involvement in his assassination over 56 years ago.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little, was a prominent figure in the Black liberation movement of the 1960s. He was an advocate for Black nationalism and fought tirelessly against racial discrimination and injustice. However, on February 21, 1965, he was assassinated while giving a speech at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For decades, there have been suspicions that the US government and law enforcement agencies played a role in Malcolm X&#8217;s assassination. These suspicions were fueled by revelations that the FBI and New York Police Department had monitored and harassed Malcolm X and other civil rights activists.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In a press conference held on Monday, Malcolm X&#8217;s daughters, Qubilah Shabazz, Ilyasah Shabazz, and Gamilah Shabazz, along with civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump, announced that they will be filing a lawsuit against the US government and law enforcement agencies for their alleged involvement in the assassination of Malcolm X.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to the family, the lawsuit will be based on recent revelations made in a Netflix documentary series titled &#8220;Who Killed Malcolm X?&#8221; The documentary series, which was released in 2020, shed new light on the circumstances surrounding Malcolm X&#8217;s assassination.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The family alleges that the <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/malcolm-xs-family-announces-lawsuit-against-cia-fbi-nypd-for-wrongful-death" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">FBI and New York Police Department</a> withheld information and evidence that could have led to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for Malcolm X&#8217;s murder. They also claim that these agencies were complicit in the assassination by infiltrating and disrupting Malcolm X&#8217;s inner circle.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8220;The FBI and the NYPD have a long history of infiltrating and disrupting Black organizations and movements. We believe that they played a role in the assassination of our father,&#8221; said Ilyasah Shabazz during the press conference.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The family&#8217;s attorney, Benjamin Crump, stated that the lawsuit seeks to hold the US government and law enforcement agencies accountable for their actions and to seek justice for Malcolm X and his family.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8220;We are filing this lawsuit to uncover the truth and to seek justice for the family of Malcolm X. The US government and law enforcement agencies must be held accountable for their actions,&#8221; said Crump.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The lawsuit is expected to be filed in the coming weeks and will likely be closely watched by civil rights activists and legal experts alike. If successful, it could set an important precedent for holding the US government and law enforcement agencies accountable for historical injustices committed against Black Americans.</p>
